INNOVATIVE LASER THERAPY TREATMENTS
INDICATE AMAZING RESULTS FOR THE RELIEF OF PAIN

By Sara Pentz for Dr. Melissa Ritter, D.C.

Newport Beach-based Chiropractor Dr. Melissa Ritter, D.C., is using a new type of laser therapy in her practice to treat the pain her patient’s experience. The treatments help them become pain free from such classic problems as arthritis, and joint, muscle and nerve pain.

Even more stunning, Dr. Ritter is currently treating a patient who was injured two years ago. “The result of the injury was severe facial nerve damage and paresis on the right side of her face,” explains Dr. Ritter. “The excruciating pain she experienced radiated up through her forehead and ear, the side of the head and her neck and back of the neck.”

The patient had tried everything to eliminate the pain and the paresis since the accident two years ago. “I basically saw about 20 doctors and no one knew what to do or how to handle it,” she explains. “Dr. Ritter was able to get my facial nerves moving. The right corner of my mouth, which was drooping, has begun to lift. She is definitely alleviating the pain. It’s the first time I’ve feel a glimmer of hope,” explains the patient.

If you have pain that is of skeletomuscular origin, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes arthritis, arthralgia, back pain, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, heel spurs or plantar fascitis, migraine headaches, neck pain/whiplash, nerve root pain, postoperative pain, repetitive stress injuries, TM J pain, tendonitis, tennis elbow, contusions, strains and sprains, and the accompanying swelling of these areas.

If you have a wound that is slow to heal and has been resistant to treatment, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes slow healing fractures, as well as soft tissue injuries and ulcers. If you have multiple trigger points (sore spots in the muscles) that do not go away, you may be a candidate for laser therapy. This includes areas associated with fibromyalgia.

“With variable treatment times, and protocols, we have the ability to deliver healing laser energy deep into the body measured to a depth of four inches, which enables us to reach every joint in the body,” explains Dr. Ritter. The beam penetrates through cell walls and different responses are obtainable through the variable wavelengths of treatment. There is excellent penetration through an intact skin, enabling us to give pain relief and stimulate healing of deep tissues.” Amazingly, her success rate treating patients with moderate to severe arthritic pain has been up to 90%. And, it lasts!

Laser therapy works well for a variety of conditions. In fact, evidence-based research is revealing that many injuries respond positively to this kind of high-energy laser therapy treatment. This particular laser’s uniquely combined wavelengths expand the therapeutic value of the laser for the reduction of inflammation, pain and––to a degree––scar tissue. It successfully increases local blood flow to reduce muscle spasms and joint stiffness.
